Town North Bank Presents $24,000 in College Scholarships
Town North Bank, located in Dallas, topped $227,000 in
scholarship awards after announcing the 2007 Mayors’ Scholarship
recipients. Six Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School
District seniors will receive $4,000 each. They are Jenna Duncan and
Grant Gaalema, Creekview High School; Danielle Rosales and Camilo
Caballero, Newman Smith High School; Alba Lara and Desera Moore, R.
L. Turner High School.
The students were selected as Mayors’ Scholarship recipients
because of their ability to achieve and their commitment to purpose.
The bank began the scholarship program in 1991 in honor of the
Mayors of Farmers Branch and Carrollton. This year, the bank
honored Bob Phelps and Becky Miller, respectively by presenting
$24,000 in scholarships.
Dr. Annette T. Griffin, superintendent of schools, said, “Town
North Bank is a real champion of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch
School District and public education. The bank’s reputation as
a supporter of public education is known across the state of Texas.
The financial support that these six students received means much to
them, but the bank’s recognition of their hard work means even
more.”
Mr. John Reap, Town North Bank president, said, “Town North Bank
is pleased to provide this financial support to these six
outstanding students. The bank’s Board of Directors made this
commitment to scholarships because we believe in public education.”
Through the Mayors’ Scholarship program, the community sees
first-hand the quality of the students in the Carrollton-Farmers
Branch School District. Mr. Reap added, “We have a very fine
public school system, and I am a huge believer in public education.
It’s important to be educated in the real word, and public school is
the real world.”
Since the bank initiated the Mayors’ Scholarship program in 1991,
$227,000 has been presented in 78 student scholarships. Town
North Bank is also a major contributor to the Carrollton-Farmers
Branch ISD Educational Foundation, and both Mr. Reap and Cinda
Bowers, TNB’s Director of Marketing, are past chairman of the
Foundation’s Board of Directors.
