Town North Bank, N.A. Receives Crystal Award

Town North Bank received the Crystal Award in the Texas Business Partnership Category for a Medium Business from the Texas Association of Partners in Education (TAPE).  The award is the highest award presented by TAPE for a business’s involvement in public school system.

Crystal Award
John C. Reap, president and CEO, Town North Bank;
Dr. Annette Griffin, superintendent of schools, Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District

The bank was nominated by Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (C-FB ISD) for its continued advocacy for public education and its strong partnership. “The ways that Town North Bank supports our teachers, students and schools are endless,” said Dr. Annette Griffin, superintendent of schools.  “The impact of the bank, John Reap, Town North Bank president and CEO, and the bank team make on the lives of the people in our district is immeasurable.  Although we tell them how much we appreciate their efforts, I don’t know if they truly realized the impact they are making.  Town North Bank is a true gift to C-FB ISD.”

Town North Bank, located in Dallas, topped $269,000 in scholarship awards after announcing the 2008 scholarship recipients. Six C-FB ISD seniors will receive $4,000 each.  They are Nicole Schero, McKenzie Goad, Creekview High School; Freddie Gangs, Jacqueline Negrete, Newman Smith High School; Elmer Herrera, Taylor Rahm, R. L. Turner High School.  The students were selected as scholarship recipients because of their ability to achieve and their commitment to purpose.

Town North Bank is also a major contributor to the C-FB ISD Educational Foundation; the bank was one of the foundation’s first donors. Mr. Reap served as its chairman for two years; Ms. Cinda Bowers, the bank’s senior vice president/director of marketing has served as the foundation’s chairman.  Ms. Nan Fuller, the bank’s executive vice president/director of human resources, is currently on the Board of Directors.

In addition, TNB sponsors school events hosted by the local chambers of commerce recognizing student leadership; sponsors the Red Ribbon Breakfast to promote a drug-free lifestyle; participates in the Texas Scholars Program providing employees to speak to middle schools students on the importance of academic excellence; and adopted the Montgomery Elementary School.

Mr. John Reap said, “The bank makes this commitment to the school district because of our belief in public education.  The C-FB ISD is a very fine public school system.”
